In the autumn of 2005, Restormel Borough Council instigated a competition between villages in the borough to find the village with the most improved amount of curb recycling over a period of several months. The winning village would receive £10K to put toward a project to improve that village.
A small group of Sticker residents formed a committee and Sticker Community Group was born. They submitted a proposal to Restormel outlining a proposed improvement of the parish council owned village car park and adjacent bus shelter. The parish council backed the proposal subject to Sticker winning the recycling competition.

The Recycling Project - We need £10,000 to improve our car park and bus shelter
The Group then embarked on a very energetic and dedicated program of delivering leaflets, recycling bags and progress newsletters to every household in the village. An effigy outside the Hewas Inn was a constant reminder to everyone to do their bit - unfortunately a "recycled family" on top of the bus shelter soon fell foul of vandals.
All their hard work and the efforts of the householders resulted in a resounding win for Sticker with the £10K to be spent on the car park and bus shelter.
Presentation of cheque
Cllr. Anne Boosey, Restormel cabinet member for the environment, presented Sticker Community Group with the cheque for £10,000 in Sticker Car Park on Tuesday 30th May at noon. This marked the success of Sticker in showing the greatest improvement in recycling during the competition at the end of last year/early this year.

It was realised that the cost would be more than the £10K award, so the parish council agreed to fund up to a similar amount subject to the Group sourcing additional funding in due course. The parish council also obtai ned a large grant towards the cost of the bus shelter.
Because of the constant problem of overcrowding in the car park, the parish council decided to increase the parking area and add additional spaces whilst the other work was going on.. In addition, for safety reasons, the parish council fenced off the stream running alongside the car park.
The results are shown below.

In March 2009 Sticker Community Group have just spent £806.95 on enhancing the back garden area of the car park. This includes a log roll edging at the top on path towards the playing field entrance.

We have also donated two hand dryers to the football club refurbishment. Our next aim is to fundraise
for a request for tables at St. Mark s Church. All money raised by us is spent in the village so if
