Sticker AFC staged their annual Gala Vintage Rally on the 18th/19th July 2009
Unfortunately torrential rain on the Wednesday coupled with a diabolical weather forecast for the weekend led to the majority of the rally and the parade of vehicles being cancelled. However, a good number of diehards turned up with their vintage cars, motor cycles, lorries and tractors - not forgetting steam organs and road rollers.
Sporadic heavy showers did not dampen enthusiasm of those who attended - even the ice cream van had some trade although the hot burgers, bacon and sausages drew the biggest queues!
There were extensive dog agility events taking place, archery competitions between the showers, many craft and general stalls and fun competitions in the marquee - even a couple of parrots parading around on pirate's shoulders! The Pirates also gave performances Saturday evening in the marquee as well as outside between showers during the day.
On Saturday evening there was a popular live music event with Jailhouse and One, Subsonic and Sonika and the Didgeridoos performing and a guest appearance by "Betty Stoggs". An extensive bar was kept very busy!
Shame about the weather but an enjoyable weekend with profits going to The Merlin Project.
Thanks go to all who took part exhibiting or helping out on the various stalls.
